Showcasing the selected design works from the museum’s collections, the “WoW! Hong Kong Design Series” aims to highlight the vibrant creativity of local designers and to invite visitors to explore their distinctive artistic creation and unique visions. The first series features a donation from Hong Kong designer and artist anothermountainman and Taiping Carpets Limited, Hong Kong Walk On / Two, an artwork from the artist's iconic “red, white, and blue” series.
Hong Kong Walk On / Two, a 6 x 3 metre handmade carpet, is one of the carpet pieces from the Hong Kong Walk On series, an art collaboration between Tai Ping and anothermountainman. The design is a graphic deconstruction of the Hong Kong skyline, expressed in solid red, white, and blue. It makes use of simple geometric lines to trace the Hong Kong skyline, accentuated with multi-level pile heights in a combination of cut and loop pile. Masterful hand carving and bevelling by carpet artisans add a further layer of interest, contributing to the three-dimensional effects presented in this piece and celebrating the spirit of craftsmanship. The Hong Kong Walk On series won the “DFA Design for Asia Awards 2022”.
